Linked information on the following topics is taken from a variety of sources, with most coming from The Academy, the alumnae newsletter published 1878-1917. Renamed The Alumnae Record with the October 1917 edition, it continued under this title through 1948. Through this publication, alumnae were kept informed of events happening at their alma mater. Because everything was recorded, these are the official “unofficial” diary of the institution during this 70-year period. Additional information and some photos related to the topics may have been taken from Salem’s newspapers, catalogs, and yearbooks. Additional photos from Archives have been added when necessary for clarity. All clips name the source, date, and page number. This project was begun by Sarah Fair (C’21) as a virtual internship during the Spring 2021 semester when the institution operated virtually because of Covid.
As further research is completed on some of the topics, additional information may be added. Other topics will be added as inquiries are made and research is completed.
