The library has spaces for both small and large group meetings, events, and class visits. If you have questions that are not answered by this page, requests for accommodations and accessibility, are a community member not currently affiliated with Salem, or any other concerns, please contact us at library@salem.edu. We’re happy to help with your visit to the library!

Notice: Patrons are responsible for submitting set-up workorders, IT tickets, and catering services for their reservations. Library staff are available to help you find where to submit these requests. (This is not required for Group Study Rooms.)

Group Study Room

The Group Study Room is intended for small meetings or as a private individual study space. This room has two beautiful views: one of Salem’s campus, and the other looking into the library’s main lobby. Reservations are not required to use this room, but for small scheduled meetings, we recommend a reservation to ensure it is available for you. Priority for this space is given to current Salem students, but others are welcome to inquire as needed.

Location: 2nd Floor
Technology: TV display with desktop computer, laptop connection, and charging ports. A remote for the TV and a combination Bluetooth keyboard/touchpad mouse for the desktop computer can be checked out at the Information Desk.
Max Occupancy: 6

Library Assembly Room (LAR)

The LAR is a multi-purpose space that can be set-up to fit your needs. We have pre-designed chair and table set-ups for you to choose from, or you can tell us something new you’d like to try! This space is often used for in-library classroom instruction; faculty, club, and alumni association meetings; and small events.

Location: 3rd Floor
Technology: Projector with one-click raise/lower motorized screen, surround sound speakers, podium with desktop computer, laptop connection, USB webcam, and hybrid in-person/online conference capabilities.
Other amenities: Catering table, whiteboard, large easel pad, accessibility ramp, and nearby restrooms.

Curriculum Materials Center (CMC)

The CMC is a classroom-ready space surrounded by children’s books and educator materials. When students aren’t studying and collaborating in this comfortable and casual area, the CMC is often used as an accessible in-library classroom.

Location: Ground Floor
Technology: TV display with sound bar, podium with desktop computer, and laptop connection.
Other amenities: Whiteboards, ADA compliant desk with a computer and printer, and nearby restrooms (including one restroom that is ADA accessible and gender neutral).

Reading Room

The Reading Room has ample natural light, soft seating, and 11 tables with up to 32 seats. The faculty publication exhibit is displayed year-round, so stop by the fireplace to see what Salem’s esteemed faculty are researching!

Technology: Multiple floor charging ports with extensions.
