Teacher Licensure in North Carolina

Effective October 1, 2014, several major changes to testing requirements for teacher licensure in North Carolina will go into effect. These changes will affect those seeking licensure in elementary or special education. Instead of the Praxis II, teachers seeking licensure in these areas will be required to pass the following tests from the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) program:

Foundations of Reading test
General Curriculum test
